Heinrich Rudolph Hertz

Heinrich Rudolph Hertz was born on 22 February 1857 in Hamburg, Germany and educated at the University of Berlin. He confirmed J.C. Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory by his experiments. He laid the foundation for future development of radio, telephone, telegraph and even television. He also discovered the photoelectric effect which was later explained by Albert Einstein. The SI unit of frequency was named as hertz in his honour.

Nadal lifts his 10th French Open Men's Singles Title. Spain's Rafael Nadal has lifted his 10th French Open Men's Singles Title . In a one-sided final in Paris today, he completely overwhelmed Swiss star Stan Wawrinka in 6-2, 6-3, 6-1. With the win, the 31-year Nadal has become the first player in the Professional arena to win the same Grand Slam title 10 times. The World's 4th ranked player has 15 Grand Slams to his credit. World No. 3 Wawrinka has three Grand Slam titles to his credit including a French Open crown.

In the French Open tennis, the second grand slam of the season, New Zealander Michael Venus along with his American team mate American Ryan Harrison claimed first grand slam title in the men's doubles category. In the women's singles category , unseeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia won the title beating third seeded Simona Halep 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.    JELENA OSTAPENKO became the youngest French Open winner since Iva Majoli in 1997.
