PM Narendra Modi reaches Qingdao for SCO Summit India and China today signed two bilateral agreements during a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Qingdao, China. The agreements include continuing to share Brahmaputra water data during flood season and exporting non-basmati rice to China. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit beginning tomorrow. Swiss president Doris Leuthard will pay a three-day visit to India beginning tomorrow. During the visit both sides will hold extensive talks on entire gamut of bilateral relationship including on ways to ramp up trade and investment ties. In a release, the External Affairs Ministry said today that this is Mr Deuba's first visit abroad after assuming the office of Prime Minister of Nepal in June this year. Six women officers of the Indian Navy, who are due to circumnavigate the globe on the sailing vessel, INSV Tarini today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. They will begin their voyage later this month from Goa and expected to return to Goa in March next year, after completing the circumnavigation. The expedition has been titled Navika Sagar Parikrama. Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid O Meredov will arrive in New Delhi tonight on a three-day visit to India. US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping today reiterated their mutual commitment to denuclearise the Korean Peninsula and agreed that North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behaviour. The White House said two leaders spoke over phone to discuss the escalating tension after North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un threatened the US this week to fire missiles at Guam, a US island territory, after the US sponsored a resolution imposing new economic sanctions on Pyongyang over its missile and nuclear weapons programmes. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today met her Bhutanese counterpart Damcho Dorji in Kathmandu on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC meet. There was no official word on as to what was discussed between the two leaders. The meeting comes in the backdrop of the current standoff in Dokalam - a trijunction between India, China and Bhutan. Both the leaders were in Kathmandu to attend a meeting of foreign ministers from the countries of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) , a grouping of countries in South Asia and South East Asia. Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal are members of the BIMSTEC.
