Senior advocate KK Venugopal is the new Attorney General for India. അറ്റോര്ണി ജനറലായി മുതിര്ന്ന അഭിഭാഷകനും മലയാളിയുമായ കെ.കെ.വേണുഗോപാലിനെ കേന്ദ്രസര്ക്കാര് നിയമിച്ചു. ഭരണഘടനാവിദഗ്ദ്ധന് എന്ന നിലയില് പേരെടുത്ത കെ.കെ. വേണുഗോപാലിന്റെ നിയമന ശുപാര്ശയില് രാഷട്രപതി പ്രണബ് മുഖര്ജി ഒപ്പു വച്ചു. ഈ പദവി വഹിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യ മലയാളിയാണ് കെ.കെ.വേണുഗോപാൽ. Mr Venugopal, 86, will succeed Mukul Rohatgi, who stepped down earlier this month, saying he wishes to get back to private practice. KK Venugopal is the first Malayalee to hold this position as the new Attorney General of India.
