Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the second round of the World Championship in men's singles with a straight game win over Russia's Sergey Sirant in the competition which began in Glasgow, Scotland today.
The eighth seeded Indian, defeated Sirant 21-13, 21-12 in less than 30 minutes. Srikanth will now take on France's Lucas Corvee in the second round tomorrow. World No.8 Srikanth had won the Indonesia Super Series Premier and Australian Super series Open in June.
India has sent its largest contingent comprising 21-shuttlers to the event with Rio Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu leading from front.
