India's P V Sindhu has lifted the women's singles title at the Korea Open Super Series badminton tournament. In a thrilling summit clash at Seoul today, the Rio Olympics Silver medallist defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in three sets 22-20, 11-21, 20-18.
Playing back-to-back finals against Okuhara, Sindhu thus exacted sweet revenge of her World Championship heart-break in Glasgow last month in an epic battle. Today's energy-sapping contest lasted an hour and 23 minutes. In the process, Sindhu became the first Indian to win the Korea Super Series crown. It is also her third super series title of her career.
World no. 4 Sindhu had clinched the 2016 China Super Series Premier and India Super Series and Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold this season.
